Manitoba Public Insurance is once again providing students with the opportunity to create a video about good driving practices and win $250 in Freeze Frame’s International Film Festival for Kids of All Ages. All students, right through to those in grade 12, are invited to work in teams to produce a short video in the MPI-sponsored category of eco-friendly, fuel-efficient driving. A team can approach the video production as a school project under a teacher’s supervision, or the team can work on it outside of the classroom. Students in grade 8 and under qualify for the Wee Reels competition, while those in grades 9 to 12 qualify for the Reel Views competition. Call Freeze Frame today for an entry form or for more information – 943-5341. The winning French and English teams in the MPI-sponsored category, in both Wee Reels and Reel Views, receive a framed certificate commemorating their efforts and a $250 honorarium that could go towards a class celebration. Winning and runner-up teams will be invited to the Youth Video Contests awards gala during the festival, where their videos will be screened and their production efforts recognized. Students selecting the MPI-sponsored category can choose from fuel-efficient driving topics such as maintaining a vehicle for best performance, reducing idling, or purchasing a fuel-efficient vehicle. Another topic, “smart driving,” covers reducing speed, minimizing sudden stops and starts, and planning for the most direct route. Freeze Frame one-stop phone number – 943-5341.
